During his lifetime, he was Honorary President of the Chinese Society of Society, Member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Chairman of the Sociology Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Chief Expert of Central Marxist Theoretical Research and Construction Engineering Sociology, and Research Center of Sociology of Renmin University Director, first-level professor of sociology, doctoral tutor; concurrently honorary dean of the School of Sociology, Huazhong Normal University

Contribution

In October 1991, he was awarded the honorary certificate of national outstanding expert. The Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Academic Impact Report (2000-2004), published in 2008, ranks third among the most cited authors of sociological papers. Selected as a list of 505 scholars of "2007 (First) Outstanding Social Scientist in China". In 2009, it was named one of the 50 national outstanding professional and technical talents.

Main Opnions

Since returning to Britain in the 1980s, he has focused on the construction of his theoretical system, and has put forward the theory of social operation, social transformation theory, disciplinary indigenous theory, social mutual construction theory and practical structure theory. Among them, social operation theory and social mutual construction theory belong to social ontology, social transformation theory and practical structure theory are social development theory, while disciplinary theory is methodology, thus constructing a set of its own academic discourse. These five theories have the oriental character of sociology, it is not easy, and it is a theoretical system that is sufficient for dialogue with western sociological circles.
